Alternate Leg: ID (Legs I,II,III,IV) Area of Operations : Georges Bank, Great South Channel, New Jersey continental shelf, United States, North America, North Atlantic Dates: Mar 8, 1977 to April 17, 1977 Chief scientist: Brad Butman Objectives: The WHITE FOOT cruises were conducted to recover and deploy oceanographic instrumentation on Georges Bank and on the New Jersey Contintental Shelf. Due to severe winter weather and problems encountered in recovering instrumentation four trips were required to complete the necessary work. Objectives were: 1.Recover(#120) and deploy one tripod (#126) on Georges Bank. 2.Recover ARGO MERCHANT current meter array (three moorings #123,124,125). 3.Recover one tripod(#121) and surface buoy in Great South Channel (part of ARGO MERCHANT array). 4.Recover(#119) and deploy one tripod (#122) off New Jersey. 5.Make XBT observations to deteremine temperature structure in vicinity of current and tripod moorings.
