| Objectives: | Recover bottom tripod system (mooring #153). The instrument package had not been recovered as planned on an earlier cruise due to unknown failure in recovery system. (An unsuccessful attempt to recover by grappling was made on a University of Miami cruise, November 7-17, 1978, aboard the COLUMBUS ISELIN CI7808 (78039).) We planned to recover by grappling. USGS personnel were onboard this cruise for the recovery only and did not transit with the vessel. |
