Area of Operations: Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts, United States, North America, North Atlantic
Dates: November 8, 1984 to November 8, 1984
Chief scientist: Tom OBrien
Objectives: Shallow water, high-resolution reflection and refraction seismology utilizing an explosive sound source, 3-axis geophone and single hydrophone sensors, and a sonobuoy telemetry system. Additionally, a USGS ocean-bottom seismograph was deployed.
Type of Activity: Seismic profiling
Information to be derived: High-resolution reflection and refraction seismology
Summary: All equipment worked well. There seems to be an electronic coupling problem between the geophone system and the sonobuoy transmitters. This problem will be addressed this winter and the experiment will be attempted again in Spring of 1985.
