Area of Operations: Greenwich Bay, Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island, United States, North America, North Atlantic
Dates: May 13, 2009 to May 15, 2009
Objectives: Continuous resistivity profiling to map submarine fresh-saline groundwater interface in Greenwich Bay.
Type of Activity: Geophysical surveying
Information to be derived: Geohpysical data (CRP), navigation, point salinity measurements
Summary: May 13, Weds., Worley arrives in PM to set up gear on boat at Norton's Marina, East Greenwich, RI; May 14, Thurs., Worley, Bratton, King, Miller survey with 50-m CRP streamer in Greenwich Cove, Apponaug Cove, around perimeter of Greenwich Bay, and several N-S crossings in western half, King put off at marina at noon, VeeAnn Cross checks AM data remotely back in Woods Hole -- looks OK; May 15, same crew (incl. King) survey open parts of Greenwich Bay with 100-m streamer, periodic salinity measurements with YSI 30 (all 25.5-27.8 ppt), run long W-E lines, then out mouth to Patience Island, then SW to mouth of Potowomut Cove, then N back to Greenwich Bay, zigzagging N-S-N over eastern half of bay, back at pier at 1530.
